This is a hard list to come up with. Every Project can be put together with a different set of materials.
- a couple tarps, woven polypropylene is perfect… may be able to recycle someone’s used woven polypropylene lumber wrap, feed bags, etc. for free …
- drain rock for foundation (an oven can actually be built at ground level, or even on a sturdy enough platform on sawhorses)
- stone for stem-wall to bring the oven up to about waist height. I like to use broken up sidewalk. It’s a pretty efficient solution, and recycles the waste that would normally end up in a landfill
- clay rich soil
- 1/2 to a full yard (small truckload) sand (mason sand is perfered)
- firebricks (10-30 or more depending on how large you expect to build your oven. These bricks make up the interior floor of the oven)
- organic material (barkdust/barkmulch, or straw, etc)
- a roof (this could be a standard roof made out of lumber, it could be earth sheltered, made out of an old car hood or trunk lid, use your imagination!)
